Our annual Holiday Fund Drive is under way – and your participation
is more important than ever before.
That’s because so many thousands of cats and dogs continue to
need our help. Last year alone, we saved the lives of over 19,000 pets
by reuniting them with their people, transferring them to other rescue
organizations, or finding new forever homes.
Your support helped us mend their wounds, restore their spirits and
start them on the road to happy lives. Here’s one example:
Stewey is an innocent little fellow who wandered away from his
home, as terriers sometimes do. We don’t know how long he was lost, but
before he could get safely back, he was attacked by two large, aggressive
dogs that clamped their jaws on his head and started to tear him apart.
Fortunately, Stewey was rescued before it was too late. He was in pretty bad shape when the kind woman who discovered him brought him to
our shelter. His head was all swollen, and the places where he’d been bitten
needed treatment right away. Later, he underwent surgery to get stitched
back together, then we helped him through a long
period of recovery.
The good news is that Stewey is well and
happy these days because so many people helped
him when he needed it most – the kind stranger who
knew we wouldn’t turn him away, our veterinarians
who treated him with skill and compassion, and our
foster-care volunteers who nurtured him through
recovery.
The sad news is that Stewey didn’t have an ID tag or a michrochip ID
implant, so we couldn’t find his former owners, and they will never know
what happened to him.
But you know his story, and you understand that the happy ending for
Stewey – and for thousands of other homeless pets – came about because
of the generous support of special people like you.
Will you help create more heartwarming happy endings like
Stewey’s? Will you please send a gift to our Holiday Fund Drive?
It may be the best present you share this season – hope for homeless and helpless pets like Stewey.
Thank you in advance for your support, and best wishes for the
holidays.
Warmest Regards,

Robert D. Rohde, President
